Stock maintained steady rise on Wednesday, with all major indices rising further at both Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges.
The market returned to positive territory on Tuesday, breaking the losing streak that continued in the previous five consecutive trading sessions.The trend continued on Wednesday, taking the broader
DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) 23.49 points up at 4335.29. Accordingly, the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES finished the day higher at 1645.14 and 1051.22 respectively.
CSCX, the major index of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also advanced further by nearly 32.88 points to finish the day at 8110.84.
The trade value at DSE increased by 27.20 percent to Taka 385.44 crore when the volume rose by 21.58 percent to 10.43 crore shares.
On CSE, a total of 81.59 lakh shares worth nearly Taka 23 crore changed hands on the day when 104 securities closed higher against 76 losing issues. On DSE, the number of advancing issues was 123 against 94 lagging scrips.
“Stocks got off to a weak start today (Wednesday), but rallied sharply in the afternoon, fueled by movement in large-cap stocks”, said Lanka Bangla Securities Limited.
All the major sectors gained on the day when bank, fuel & power, cement and pharmaceuticals were the market movers. Textile and telecom sectors declined marginally.
