Stocks maintain recovery for 3rd day in a row

Stock market was steady on Tuesday for the third consecutive session with rising participation of investors particularly around large-cap stocks.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) added 9.17 points on Tuesday to finish at 4586.25 when the Shariah DSES followed it with marginal gain and ended at 1123.29. The blue-chip DS30, however, ended flat in red at 1773.85. Like DSE, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also maintained steady trend on Tuesday, with its major CASPI index advancing by 39.65 points to 14112.70.
Major portion of the traded securities at the two stock exchanges closed higher on the day on active participation that also drove the daily transaction up. Out of the 323 issues traded on DSE, 147 advanced against 128 losing issues while CSE saw prices of 108 scripts rising against 107 lagging securities.
The daily trade value at DSE rose by 26.66 percent to Taka 425.48 crore and the volume increased by nearly 39.0 percent to 11.98 crore shares. On CSE, the trade value was Taka 21.10 crore for 79.58 crore shares.
The trading was active mostly around large cap securities that prompted price rise of 120 issues of this cap group. Some investors were also busy in getting cash by selling mutual funds that resulted in price fall of 18 funds. Some other sectors also saw profit-booking selling.
Cement, engineering, textile and mutual fund were the day’s major losing sectors while bank and telecom advanced marginally.
