Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), on Monday witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large- cap issues amid optimism.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 26.92 points or 0.46 per cent to settle at 5,840.09. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 6.64 points to finish at 2,199.30 and 2.31 points closing at 1,285.09.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Tk 15,346.22 million on the country’s premier bourse which was Tk 14,183.65 million.
Gainers took a modest lead over the losers, as out of 367 issues traded, 142 closed green, 176 in the red and 49 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Beximco topped the turnover chart, followed by Robi, Saif Power, Prime Bank and IFIC. Asia Insurance was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 9.91 per cent while Tosrifa was the worst loser, losing 8.13 percent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -advancing 73.39 points to settle at 16,922.59 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX gaining 45.94 points to close at 10,202.34.
Of the issues traded, 125 advanced, 146 declined and 29 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city’s bourse traded 4.33 crore shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Tk 115.28 crore.
