Stocks maintain downward trend on lower transactions

Stocks witnessed another bearish session on Tuesday as all indices on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) maintained downward trend due to lower transactions.
Both the turnover and trade declined on the DSE. Turnover, a major indicator of the market, declined to Taka 483.46 crore from the Monday’s Taka 567.68 crore while trade volume came down to 11.29 crore shares from the Monday’s 12.68 crore shares.
DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, shed 19.94 points to close at 5,275.76. Two other indices followed the same trend as DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost by 0.98 point to close at 1848.72 and DSE Shariah index lost by 6.59 points to settle at 1,213.19.
Out of 341 traded issues, 100 closed higher, 202 closed lower and 39 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor. Five top gainers on DSE were ANLIMAYARN, Paramount, VFSTDL, Sino Bangla and SK Trims. ISNLTD, DSHGARME, Sonali Ansh, Aziz Pipes and Ambee Pharma were the top five losers.
