Stocks end week with positive note

Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended week with a positive note on Thursday, the day when the Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith unveiled the national budget for 2015-16 (FY16) financial year at the Jatiya Sangsad.
Pre-budget cautious trading kept the daily transactions at low, but the indices were up at close, with the major DSEX finishing at 4591.42, the DS30 at 1765.18 and the Shariah DSES at 1117.59.
The daily trade value fell to Taka 499.25 crore and the volume to 12.58 crore shares from Tuesday’s Taka 725 crore for 18.91 crore shares. Stock market remained closed on Wednesday for the holy Shab-e-Baraat.
Market was for buyers because of the lower activities when most of the traded issues incurred loss on the day. Out of the 310 issues traded, 160 suffered loss when 112 gained and 38 remained static.
The major gainers were Far Chemical, Intech, Apolo Isphat, Sauf Power and ICBistNBR when the major losers were Savar ref, SPCL, Shympur Sugar, Standard Insurance and Kay and Que.
Summit Power topped the turnover leaders followed by KPCL, Beximco, AFC Agro and Far Chemical.
