Stocks ended the week on Thursday upward with rising trend of major indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges on higher transaction.
The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the week with 24.96 points higher at 5,726.23. The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 17.04 points up at 2076.67. But the Shariah DSES ended marginally 9.6 points down at 1301.48.
Out of the 332 issues traded on DSE, 127 gained against 182 losing issues.
The week’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 1040.89 crore from the last session of previous week Taka 964.07 crore and the weekly trade also rose to 35.70 crore shares from 30.18 crore of the previous week.
The top five gainers of the week were AB Bank, ICB AMCL 2nd, Tunghai, MI Cement and IFIC. The major losing issues of the week included Reliance Insurance, United Finance, Mercantile Bank, STANCERAM and Jute Spinning.
The top five turnover leaders were City Bank, AB Bank, Beximco, Lanka Bangla Finance and RSRM Steel. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week up, with its major CASPI index ending 52.83 points higher at 17,758.28.
Like DSE, most of the issues traded here closed higher when both the trade value and volume of shares increased.
