Stocks end week flat on budget day

Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended week flat on Thursday, the day when the Finance Minister AMA Muhith unveiled the national budget for 2014-15 financial year at the Jatiya Sangsad.
Pre-budget cautious trading kept indices down with the major DSEX finishing at 4396.54, the DS30 at 1622.94 and the Shariah index at 1007.82.
The daily trade volume increased to 8.44 crore shares and the value rose to Taka 419.39 crore when 133 issues incur loss, 127 gained and 37 remained static.
The activities continued to remain concentrated to most active and large cap scrips when top stocks accounted for the major portion of the total turnover.
Chemical, textile and pharmaceuticals maintained their leading position on the gaining side.
