Stock market on Tuesday ended the last trading session before Eid upward, extending the strong gaining streak to the sixth consecutive session.
There will be no share trading at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) until next Tuesday as the bourses would enjoy a six-day vacation from July 15 to 20 for Shab-e-Qadr and Eid-ul-Fitr. At the last pre-festival session investors showed relatively higher activities, taking both the indices and the daily transaction up.
The broader DSEX at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose further by 27.28 points to 4656.13 when the blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also gained further to finish the day at 1820.88 and 1147.21 respectively.
The daily turnover increased, with the trade value crossing Taka 500 crore again to settle at 520.65 crore and the trade volume rising to 11.76 crore shares.
The higher activities drove prices of 183 securities up when 85 incurred loss and 49 remained static.
Among the gainers were mostly from large-cap scrips when mutual funds maintained their previous gaining trend.
Like on Monday, three of the top five gaining issues were mutual funds those include Exmi1stMF, EBLNRBMF and ICB1stNRB. BSRM Limited and BSRM Steel were the two other securities on the top five list.
The day’s major losers were Monno Ceramic, Savar Refractories, FBFIF, Hakkai Pulp and aIBL1stIMF.
ACI topped the turnover list followed by KPCL, BSRM Limited, Ifad Autos and UPGDCL.
Like DSE, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also finished the pre-Eid session upward when it major CSCX index gained 43.60 points to close at 8713.72.
A total 129 issues finished the day up against 77 securities on the lagging side.
The day’s trade value was Taka 42.47 crore for 1.10 crore shares.
Trading and all the official activities at the two bourses will resume on Tuesday, July 21 after the vacation when the trading hours will be 10:30am to 2:30pm and office hours will be 9:30am to 5:30pm.
