Stock market closed on Wednesday mixed with moderate loss in indices after Bangladesh Bank (BB) announced a cautiously accommodative monetary policy for the first half of the current 2016-17 financial year.
The daily share transactions also fell marginally when most of the traded issues closed lower.
The market made little gain on Tuesday to break the falling trend that the market had been going through in the past five consecutive sessions, but returned to red zone again with marginal loss.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the session flat in red at 4538.20 when the blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES followed it close at 1771.92 and 1113.13 respectively.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the day in red, with its major CASPI index losing 29.82 points to finish at 13976.87.
The daily turnover in value at DSE decreased by 9.58 percent to Taka 405.22 crore when the volume fell by 13.80 percent to 8.77 crore shares.
Among the traded 326 issues at DSE, 160 closed lower against 101 gaining issues. At CSE, 128 issues lost when 40 finished the day higher.
Bank, fuel and power and food and allied were day’s major losing sectors while telecom managed some gains.
The top five gaining companies were Exi1stM, Renwick Ja, Aramit Cement, HR textile and National Tubes. The major losers included Pragati Life, Modern Dying, EBLNBRMF, Dulamia Cotton and Stylecraft.
Grameen Phone topped the turnover list followed by Squire Pharma, Islami Bank, SingerBD and Acme Lab.
