Stocks end mixed on DSE

Stocks witnessed another sluggish session on Tuesday as the major indices of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed mixed on the day.
In the port city, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed upward as its CSE All Share Price Index-CAPSI witnessed a rise on Tuesday after a marginal fall on Monday. Market turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, rose to Taka 457.87 crore from the Monday’s turnover of Taka 450.71 crore on the DSE. The bourse traded a total of 7.43 crore shares on the day.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, gained 38.78 points to settle at 5,365.22 over the previous session.
However, the DS30 index, comprising blue chips, settled at 1958.21, losing 5.23 points and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 9.72 points to close at 1238.19.
Out of 339 issues traded, 198 closed higher, 88 closed lower and 53 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Top five gainers on the day were JMI Syringe, ICB, Popular Life Insurance, Monno Ceramics, KDS accessories, Berger Paints, Global Insurance, Alif Industries, BD Finance and National Housing were the top five losers.
