Economic Reporter :
Stocks were down at the week’s opening session on Sunday after witnessing steady rally in the past two weeks.
The price indices at bourses ended lower when investors were taking profit instead of making fresh commitment.
DSEX, the broader index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), finished the day 31.69 points down at 4861.12 when the blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES followed it to end the session 11.47 points and 6.79 points lower at 1784.18 and 1154.57 respectively.
The major CSPI at Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day 89.43 points down at 14981.89.
“Most scripts experienced corrective pullback in price after a major rally in last two weeks,” said Lanka Bangla Securities Limited.
At DSE, 204 securities closed lower when only 81 issues made moderate gains. Similarly, 153 issues incurred loss at CSE against 69 gaining securities.
Compared to previous sessions, activities also fell significantly as investors were cautious about buying shares before year end.
