Stocks dip 43-month low amid selling spree

Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), witnessed another nosedive in its benchmark index as investors continued to offload their holdings.
The broad index, DSEX closed at 4281.43 points on Tuesday with a loss of 50.52 points or 1.16 percent.
Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went down by 15.63 points and 10.15 points to settle at 1436.26 points and 972.98 points respectively.
On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 122,482 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 112.11 million securities.
Loser took a strong lead over gainers as out of 355 issues traded, 42 securities gained price while 269 declined and 43 remained unchanged.
The top 10 gainers were SS Steel, Standard Ceramic, Ifad Autos, EBL NRB Mutual Fund, Padma Oil, Desh Garments, Dorin Power, National Feed Mill, Nitol Insurance and Phoenix Insurance.
ADN Telecom topped the turnover chart followed by LafargeHolcim Bangladesh, Brac Bank, KPCL, Standard Ceramic, Paramount Insurance, SS Steel, Mutual Trust Bank, Pubali Bank and City Bank.
The top 10 losers were Zeak Bangla Sugar Mill, Al-haj Tex, BIFC, Zaheen Spinning, Progressive Life Insurance, Hwa Well Textile, Savar Refractories, Sunlife Insurance, Sinobangla Industries and Silco Pharma.
