Stocks continue uptrend on large-cap vibe

Stocks finished the session of the week on Wednesday in green as large-cap securities vibe with rising trend at both the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock exchanges.
Among the rising major sectors including travel and leisure, ceramics sector, textile, financial institution and pharmaceutical and chemical when 181 securities of the large-cap group incurred up due to higher activities. Food and allied, jute and insurance declined at the day’s closing marginally.
The broader DSEX index of DSE 36.32 points up at 4633.19. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also were in the following trend to close 8.89 points up at 1739.91 and 5.46 points up at 1108.05 respectively.
CSE also closed the day up with its major CASPI index closing about 80.79 points at 14,230.87.
The transactions at DSE were 13.64 crore shares valued at total Taka 457.04 crore.
At DSE, out of the day’s 324 traded issues, price of 218 securities closed higher against 67 losing issues. At CSE, issues traded were 240 while 156 closed higher against 57 closing lower.
The major gaining issues were Peninsula, Monno Ceramic, Hamid Fabrics, FAS Finance and AFC Agro Bio Tech. The major losing issues were Shyampur Sugar Mills, Sonali Ansh, Modern Dying, United Insurance and Tallu Spinning.
Brac Bank topped the turnover leaders followed by Doreen Power, Orion Infusion, Confidence Cement and Argon Denims Limited.
