Stocks continue to maintain upward trend with mixed performance

Stocks continued to maintain upward trend with mixed performance for the second consecutive session of the week on Monday as the daily turnover of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) fell.
The broader DSEX index of DSE finished the day 6.26 points up at 4563.69, when the blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES followed the same trend 3.66 points up at 1751.55 and 2.56 points up at 1106.56. Similarly, the prime CASPI index at Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) was 38.09 points up at 14,021.27.
The transaction at DSE was down as volume of the total shares down by 4.76 percent to 11.32 crore and the total value declined by 11.58 percent to Taka 425.27 crore.
Among the traded 321 issues at DSE, 125 closed higher against 147 losing issues. At CSE, 103 issues lost when 106 finished the day higher.
The DSE top five gaining companies were Pragati Insurance, Hamid Fabrics, National Tubes, Safko Spinning and ACME Lab. The major losers included SEML Lecture, ICB Sonali 1, Rupali Insurance, Provati Insurance and Islamic Insurance.
