Stocks close with downtrend

Week’s trading at the country’s two bourses closed on Wednesday with a downtrend due to price fall in large-cap securities.
The falling major sectors were textile, insurance and pharmaceuticals and chemicals. A total of 132 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 27.59 points down at 5,502.49. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 4.60 points down at 1,281.73 and with 11.33 points down at 1,968.75.
The daily trade fell to 6.48 crore shares from Tuesday’s 7.07 crore shares and the day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 353.415 crore from Taka 385.78 crore of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 347 securities, prices of 121 securities closed higher against 165 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Monno Ceramics, IBP, JMISMDL, Eastern Lubricant and Intech. The major losing companies were VAMLBD1, CNATEX, Meghna Life, GHCL and United Insurance.
BATBC topped the turnover list followed by Monno Ceramics, Square Pharma, Singer BD and GP.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trend with its major CASPI 38.03 points down at 16,858.55.
