Stocks closed the week on Thursday upward with rising trend of all the indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges on higher activities of some large-cap securities. The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 61.32 points up at 5,305.95. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES closed the week with 12.85 points up at 1,868.97 and with 19.44 points up at 1,227.55 respectively. Out of the 349 issues traded at the DSE, 163 issues gained against 154 losing issues.
During the week, the daily average trade value increased by 18.88 percent to Taka 657.35 crore. But, the average trade volume fell by 7.20 percent to 15.22 crore shares.
The top five gainers of the week were Kattali Textile Limited, Al-Haj Textile Mills, National Tea Company, Reckitt Benckiser (Bd) and Ambee Pharma. The major losing issues of the week were Monno Jute Stafflers, Jute Spinners, Savar Refractories, Monno Ceramic Industries and BBS Cables. The top five turnover leaders were United Power Generation and Distribution Company, Khulna Power Company, Intech Limited, Saiham Textile Mills and BRAC Bank.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week up with its major CASPI index ending 42.23 points higher at 16,284.69.
