Stocks close week mixed

Stocks closed the week mixed on Thursday with falling trend of most of the major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock exchanges despite higher transactions.
The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 7.21 points up at 5,399.79.But, the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES closed the day with 5.90 points down at 1,893.34 and with 16.24 points down at 1,262.10 respectively.
Out of the 344 issues traded at the DSE on Thursday, 103 issues gained against 211 losing issues.
During the week, the daily average trade value increased by 0.25 percent to Taka 687.49 crore and the average trade volume rose by 9.60 percent to 19.32 crore shares.
The top five gainers of the week were Provati Insurance Company, Regent Textile Mills, Monno Jute Stafflers, Legacy Footwear and Simtex Industries. The major losing issues of the week were Savar Refractories, Padma Islami Life Insurance, Fine Foods, ICB Islamic Bank and Renwick Jajneswar and Co (BD).
The top five turnover leaders were BBS Cables, AB bank, United Power Generation and Distribution Company and Simtex Industries.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week up with its major CASPI index ending 37.51 points higher at 16,630.68.
