Stock market closed week mixed when the broader price indices at the country’s twin bourses finished up, but transaction fell on cautious participation Wednesday.
DSEX, the broader index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), ended flat in green at 4408.64, with the blue-chip DS30 following it to end at 1683.35. The Shariah DSES, however, closed flat in green at 1065.98.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended the week up, with its major CSCX index finishing 13.64 points higher at 8246.60.
The daily transaction declined on the day as investors took cautious stance ahead of a long holiday.
On DSE, the daily trade value fell to Taka 390 crore from Tuesday’s Taka 474.96 crore when the trade volume decreased to 9.13 crore shares from 10 crore of the previous session.
The daily trade volume on CSE decreased on the day, with 79.45 lakh shares changing hands against 81 lakh shares of the previous session. The trade value, however, rose marginally to Taka 24.43 crore from previous session’s Taka 24.33 crore.
Out of the traded 315 issues on DSE, 156 securities suffered loss against 107 advancing issues. The CSE also saw 122 scrips closing lower against 89 advancing securities.
Eastern Cable, Jamuna Oil, Aramit, Gemini Sea and Safko Spinning were the day’s top five gaining issues when the major losers included Doreen Power, Eastern Insurance, BD Lamps, AIBL 1st IMF and Apex Spinning.
Jamuna Oil, Aman Feed, MJLBD, Doreen Power and Lanka Bangla were the day’s most actively traded issues.
