Stocks finished the week on Thursday downward trend when the daily transactions declined amid volatility in large-cap securities.
The boarder DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the week with 40.69 points down at 5861.12. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 16.62 points down at 2,109.10 and 10.36 points down at 1304.18.
The daily average trade value at DSE was 16.4 percent down at Taka 815.47 crore and the trade volume was 28.3 percent down at 25.05 crore shares.
Out of 333 traded issues, 228 incurred loss when only 90 closed with some gains. Most of the losing issues were from large-cap securities.
During the week, the top five gainers were Samata Leather, BBS Cables, Publai Bank, Monno Stafflers and Uttara Bank. The five major losing companies were Sunlife Insurance, Imam Button, CAPMBDBLMF, Dulamia Cotton and ICBAMCL2ND.
The top five turnover leaders were BBS Cables, IFIC, Uttara Bank, Ifad Autos and CAN Tex.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major CASPI index ending 108.25 points lower at 18,199.73.
Like DSE, most of the issues traded here closed lower when both the trade value and volume of shares declined.
