Stocks close week down, transaction declines

Stocks finished the week on Thursday downward trend when the daily transaction declined amid volatility in large-cap securities.
The boarder DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) was down by over 38 points to finish the week at 5586.75. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend 15.16 points down at 2021.04 and 5.45 points down at 1304.03.
The week’s trade value at DSE declined to Taka 830.44 crore from the last session of previous week Taka 1,333.15 crore on selling of large-cap securities and the weekly trade also fall to 21.61 crore shares from 34.02 crore of the previous week.
Out of 332 traded issues, 193 incurred loss when only 113 closed with some gains. Most of the losing issues were from large-cap securities.
During the week, the top five gainers were Premier Leasing, Al Haj Textile, RN Spinning, ICB 1st NRB and East Land. The five major losing companies included Savar EFR, Titas Gas, Central PHL, Imam Button and Shyampur Sugar.
