Stocks close week down

Stocks finished the week down on Thursday with falling trends of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges as the daily transactions declined amid volatility in large-cap securities.
The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 33.56 points down at 5,467.05. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 18.88 points down at 1,901 and with 15.86 points down at 1,255.51 respectively.
Out of the 346 issues traded on DSE, 106 gained against 220 losing issues.
During the week, the daily average trade value declined by nearly 13.81 per cent to Taka 776.77 crore and the average trade volume fell by 11.75 per cent to 17.79 crore shares when majority of the traded issues closed up.
The top five gainers of the week were Pragati Life Insurance, Intech Limited, National Life Insurance, Fine Foods and Global Insurance.
The major losing issues of the week were EBL First Mutual Fund, Trust Bank First Mutual Fund, AB Bank 1st Mutual Fund, PHP First Mutual Fund and 1st Janata Mutual Fund.
The top five turnover leaders were Khulna Power Company, Active Fine Chemicals, IFAD Autos, BBS Cables and Shasha Denims.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major CASPI index ending 112.505 points lower at 16,887.30.
