Stocks close the week upward

Stocks closed the week on Thursday mixed with rising trend of major indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges on higher activities of some large-cap securities.
The DSEX, key index of the DSE finished the week with 12.01 points up at 5,574.25 and the blue-chip DS30 closed the week with 2.91 points up at 1,958.53. However, the Shariah DSES shed 1,31 points to close at 1278.66.
Out of the 336 issues traded at the DSE, 136 issues gained against 149 losing securities.
The turnover, a major indicator of the market, rose to Tk 817.24 crore from the Wednesday’s Tk 811.75 crore and the daily trade volume increased to 20.01 crore share from the Wednesday’s 18.28 crore shares.
The top five gainers were Summit Power, Sahsah Denims, Active Fine, Barka Power, Bengal Winsor. Top five losers were Meghna Pet, Northern Jute, RD Food, Peninsula Chittagong and Bangladesh Submarine Cables.
In the port city, CSE closed the day with upward trend as the CSE All Price Share Index-CASPI gained 59.89 points to close at 17202.
Out of 251 traded issues, 111 closed up against 102 losing issues. A total of 1.09 crore share and mutual funds worth Tk 36 crore exchanged hand on the day.
