Stocks closed the week down on Thursday as all indices on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) suffered loss after gaining marginally on Wednesday.
Turnover, a major indicator of the market, rose to Tk 801.40 crore from the Wednesday’s Tk 703.52 crore. Trade volume declined to 15.09 From the Wednesday’s 17.31 crore shares.
DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, lost 23.54 points to settle at 5405.46. Two other indices maintained the same trend as DS30 index, comprising blue chips, shed 8.62 points to close at 1959.95 and DSE Shariah index lost 2.33 points to settle at 1263.79.
Out of 341 traded issues, 104 closed higher, 211 closed lower and 26 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Five top gainers on DSE were Aziz Pipes, HR Tex, Sonali Ansh, Aramit Limted, BD Autocars while Khulna Power, CNA Tex, Dulamiah Cotton, Standard Insurance and Zeal Bangla were the top five losers.
In the port city, CSE also maintained a downward trend as the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI – shed 134.93 points to finish at 16558.51.
The gainers dominated the day’s trading as 65 issues closed higher, 171 lower and 19 remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.
CSE traded 3.57 crore shares and mutual fund units worth more than Tk 179 crore in turnover.
