BSS, Dhaka :
Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed flat on Wednesday on profit-taking selling, halting the consecutive robust ride that the market saw in the past three consecutive sessions.
“Having consecutive sessions’ robust gain of 143.3 points, market faced a shakeout as some investors realized profit and/or re-balanced their portfolio”, said IDLC Investment Limited. The brokerage firm said participation was more focused on low priced micro-cap scrips, generating a volume of 22 crore shares as against 21 crore shares of Tuesday while turnover volume understandably declined slightly to Taka 782 crore. DSEX stayed flat at Wednesday’s close with a marginal 3.71 points down at 4455.57. The two selective indices – DS30 and DSES – also ended the session flat at 1678.87 and 1083.35 respectively.
Prices of 152 securities rose on the day against 126 declining scrips, but fall in bigger issues brought the indices downwards. Out of 254 securities traded from high-cap group, 117 closed lower. The major advancing issues of the day were Hakkani Publisher, Atlas Bangladesh, HR Textile, Makson Spinning and Delta Spinning.
Among the major losers were Samata Leather, Islam Insurance, Modern Dyeing, FBFIF and Apex Tannery.
