Stocks close another week down

Stocks closed another week down on Wednesday as investors were maintaining a cautious stand and the activity in the market was low. There will be no share trading tomorrow for a public holiday on Janmashtami.
The average daily trade value and volume declined during the week when majority of the issues traded closed lower. On an average, 11.56 crore shares were traded at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) when the average daily trade value was Taka 562.43 crore.
DSEX index of DSE ended the week 30.81 points down at 4554.27 when the Shariah DSES closed 14.14 points down 1107.35 and blue-chip DS30 17.76 lower at 1748.17.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the week flat, with its major CASPI index closing at 13,998.68.
During the week, 126 issues closed higher against 175 losing securities when 26 remained unchanged among the week’s 329 issues traded.
The week’s top gainers were Federal Insurance, National Tubes, Ambee Pharma, Apex Food and Atlas Food. The major losers were 8th ICBMF, Squire Textile, Rahima Food, BD Welding and NLI First MF.
MJLBD topped the week’s turnover leaders followed by SPCL, National Tubes, BSRM and BRAC Bank.
