BSS, Dhaka :
Dhaka stocks booked their third consecutive loss on Monday as pre-festival selling of shares for cashing in continued amidst low level of buying sentiment among investors.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended 9.28 points down at 4526.71, but still closed over 4500 points mark with support from the relatively higher
activities around the blue-chip securities.
The blue-chip DS30 managed to finish the session in green though the upward move was mere 2.86 points to 1764.49. The Shariah DSES closed flat in red at 1110.56.
Participation levels were low, but short-covering and bargain-buying helped the indices to avoid big slide. The daily trade value fell by 9.59 percent to Taka 423.32 crore and the volume declined by 8.67 percent to 11.31 crore shares.
Lanka Bangla Securities Limited said traders were reluctant to take fresh positions in broader market. However, few blue-chip stocks were actively traded today (Monday) as current market price of those enticed buying interest among investors.
IDLC Investment Limited attributed the continuous fall to cautious buying of the investors who were watchful about the ensuing annual declaration.
