Stocks begin week downwards

Stock market began week on Sunday downwards as activities declined on weak demand. The major indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges closed the day in red.
DSEX – the broader index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) lost nearly 12 points to finish the first session of week down at 4431.12. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the suit to close lower at 1681.12 and 1070.38 accordingly.
Chittagong Stock Exchange DSE) (CSE) opened the week down, with its major CSCX index finishing lower at 8290.14.
Out of the day’s traded 318 issues, 182 incurred loss against 95 advancing securities. At CSE, 63 gained when 146 were down.
The daily trade value on DSE rose by 7.0 percent to Taka 463.70 crore when the volume fell by 3.39 percent to 11.89 crore shares. On CSE, 92.38 lakh shares changed hands for Taka 29.83 crore.
