BSS, Dhaka :
Dhaka stocks returned to the red zone on Sunday after a good number of listed companies announced their quarterly earning reports those apparently mismatched investors’ expectation.
The day’s session began with the upbeat vibe of the last week’s close, but the positive tone faded out as disappointing earning reports were coming in. The eventual pessimistic trading took a toll of 68 points to bring the major index of the prime bourse at 5100-point level.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the day at 5105.22 on a sellers’ market where 204 scrips across the board suffered loss. Only 71 issues gained with 31 others changing hands at their previous closing prices.
“Market is observing some difficulties to find any direction as investors got mixed reactions about Q3 (third quarter) earnings registered by listed corporate entities,” said Lanka Bangla Securities.
The volatility in prices also brought the selective blue-chip DS30 down by 31.38 points to 1918.09 and the Shariah DSES by 15.30 points to 1204.73.
