Turnover of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) plunged under the Tk 600-crore mark today after around two months as investors are feeling shaky to pour fund amid tensions over several challenges in economic indicators of the country.
At the end of the day, turnover plunged to Tk 580 crore, down from the previous day’s Tk 702 crore.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the DSE, remained flat at 6,324.
At the DSE, 129 stocks advanced, 198 dropped and 55 remained the same.
Meghna Condensed Milk topped the gainers’ list that rose 9.96 per cent. Bangladesh Autocars, Usmania Glass Sheet Factory, and Gemini Sea Foods, Information Services Network also advanced significantly.
NRB Commercial Bank shed mostly that eroded 5.36 per cent. Regent Textile Mills, Paramount Textiles, Evince Textile and Intraco Refueling Station were among the heavy losers.
Titas Gas Distribution and Transmission became the most traded stock with shares worth Tk 47 crore changing hands followed by Beximco Ltd, KDS Accessories, IPDC Finance, and JMI Hospital.
Meanwhile, stocks at the port city bourse dropped on Thursday while the turnover rose.
The CASPI, the all share price index of the stock exchange, down 72 points, or 0.38 per cent, to 18,615.
At the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), 61 stocks up, 177 down and 32 did not move at the end of the trading hour.
Turnover at the CSE stood at Tk 22 crore Thursday, up from Tk 19 crore of the previous day.
