Share transaction at the country’s stock market declined sharply on Tuesday as investors became more cautious in making fresh commitment amid continuous fall in share prices.
The daily trade value at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) fell by 12.80 percent to Taka 380 crore when the volume was 16.18 percent down at 9.37 crore shares.
Similarly, the trade value at Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) dropped to Taka 30 crore from Monday’s Taka 32.44 crore, but the volume decreased to 94 lakhs shares from 89.84 lakh shares of the previous session.
The price indices remained under pressure amid the falling trade, with the DSEX closing 14.56 points down at 4593.48. Like previous day, the broader index of DSE experienced a steep drop within the first hour of trading, amid heavy selling. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also dipped to 1749.24 and 1106.57 accordingly.
The lower level of market activities resulted in price fall of majority of the issues traded. Out of the day’s 271 issues traded, only 85 gained when 143 incurred loss and 43 remained static.
