Stock closes week in green with low turnover

Stock market closed Thursday in green, but all the indices and the weekly average turnover were down compared to the previous week due to cautious buying.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the last session of the week 26.72 points up at 4484.52, with the two selective indices following it to close higher. The DSEX, however, was 2.07 percent or 94.73 points down compared to previous week’s close.
During the week, the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also lost 34.52 points and 28.86 points respectively.
The daily turnover was up at the close of the week, but the average daily turnover during the week in value was down by 28.02 percent to Taka 322.92 crore and in volume by 19.14 percent to Taka 8.38 crore shares.
Among the major gaining sectors were IT (6.68 percent), service & real-estate (1.92 percent) and jute (1.70 percent). The losing sectors were paper & printing (-2.63 percent) and general insurance (-2.03 percent).
