Stock closes uptrend, witness higher transactions

Stocks closed on Monday with uptrend mainly because of the higher transactions of the large and medium cap securities dominated by the insurance sector.
Insurance sector ruled the day’s gaining chart as all the 10 gaining major companies were from the insurance sector.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 11.18 points up at 5,503.08. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 2.21 points up at 1,277.66 and with 4.42 points up at 1,971.64 respectively.
The daily trade at the country’s premier bourse rose to 8.09 crore shares up from Sunday’s 7.50 crore shares and the day’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 423.97 crore from Taka 361.54 crore of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 343 securities, prices of 163 securities closed
higher against 126 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Janata Insurance, United Insurance,
Bangladesh National Insurance, Asia Insurance, Federal Insurance, Global
Insurance, Paramount Insurance, Prime Insurance, Purabi General Insurance and
Continental Insurance.
The major losing companies were First Finance, Premier Cement, Meghna
Condensed Milk, Reckitt Benckiser, Aramit Cement, SS Steel, Savar
Refractories, Jute Spinners, Tallu Spinning and Matin Spinning.
United Power topped the turnover list followed by British American Tobacco,
GP and BRAC bank Limited.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day with uptrend with its
major CASPI 79.78 points up at 16,882.94.
At CSE, 240 issues were traded. Of those, 126 closed higher and 80 closed
lower when 43.03 lakh shares worth Taka 16.70 crore changed hands.
