Stock closes down to end four-day bull-run

Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed down on Wednesday, ending to a bull-run that was persisting on the market in the past four consecutive trading sessions.
The DSEX ended the day almost flat at 4616.12 when the blue-chip DS30 was marginally up at 1760.15. Shariah DSES closed lower at 1110.72.
“Most recent bull-run took a halt as market dented after four sessions while investors reassessed their positions”, IDLC Investment said.
The investment company, however, noted that optimism prevailed as turnover remained high amid large-scale retail and institutional participation. The session also market a number of block transaction.
“Favorable political and macroeconomic scenario also played a pivotal role in regaining investors’ confidence”, IDLC said.
Activities were mixed as daily trade volume fell marginally to 20.49 crore shares when the value rose to Taka 842 crore against Tuesday’s 20.72 crore shares worth Taka 835 crore. Most of the issues traded closed lower on selling spree. Dulamia Cotton, Kay and Que, ICB1stNRB, Aziz Pipes and First Finance were the major losers among the day’s 224 lagging issues.
The top five companies of the day’s 63 gainers were BSRM Limited, Beximco, MERM steel, KPCL and Ifad Autos.
The major gaining sectors included cement, engineering and mutual fund when banking, telecom and textile were the major lagging sectors.
KPCL topped the turnover list followed by ACI Formula, UPBDCL, MJLBD and ACI.
