A virtual meeting titled ‘The role of Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CWCCI) and BASIC Bank Limited in development of new women entrepreneurs and disbursement of funds from stimulus packages to the women entrepreneurs’ pandemic-hit businesses and requirements for women entrepreneurs to avail loans and incentives’ was held on Tuesday, 25 May 2021. Chief guest of the program, Professor Dr. Abul Hashem, Chairman of BASIC Bank delivered his speech urging for whole hearted promotion of women entrepreneurship. He said that more women entrepreneurs must be brought in the mainstream of economic activities for overall development of the country. He advised Bank officials to take effective measures in this regard.
CWCCI President Monowara Hakim Ali, special guest of the program urged the concerned authorities to stand beside with women entrepreneurs. Chair of the program, BASIC Bank MD & CEO Md. Anisur Rahman shared an experience from his long banking career that the rate of loan recovery from women entrepreneurs is more satisfactory in comparison to their male counterparts.
Quoting that women are playing good role in small and medium enterprises, he assured all necessary support for women entrepreneurs. BASIC Bank is disbursing fund from stimulus packages as per Central Bank’s guidelines and it will be continued, he added. Other CWCCI leaders, directors and entrepreneurs also shared their business experiences. Abida Mostafa, Vice President of CWCCI and Ahmed Hossain, General Manager of BASIC Bank delivered welcome speech on behalf of their respective organizations. Md. Mahmudul Hasan, AGM of BASIC Bank conducted the program.
