BSS, Dhaka :
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid yesterday warned tough actions against any irregularities and corruption including question leakage before examinations.
“Law enforcement including intelligence agencies are keeping vigilance against suspect corrupt teachers,” he said while inaugurating a workshop on ‘content modification and manual preparation’ at National Academy for Educational Management (NAEM) conference room in the capital.
Education Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan,
UNESCO’s National Commission secretary Manzur Hossain and NAEM deputy director Selimuzzaman spoke on the occasion as special guests with NAEM Director General Mohammad Hamidul Haque in the chair.
NAEM trainer Mamunul Haque presented the keynote paper in the workshop. Pointing out teachers’ community is the main strength to build up a prosperous country, the minister said the incidents like questions leaking are being held because of section of teachers. “Using technology, these teachers are leaking out questions after joining hands with students. It is taking the students towards unethical practice. Stern actions would be taken against them,” Nahid said.
Urging teachers not to tarnish the educational system, the minister said outlooks of the teachers should be changed through imparting training on ethical values, consciousness about education and patriotism.
Nahid stressed the need for building time-befitting trained teachers to further enhance the standard of education.
Speaking on the occasion Education Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan said, “Concept like more meritorious or less meritorious should be avoided rather perception like everybody can be successful through constant practice should be followed.”
