Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed on Sunday warned of stern actions against illegal hoarding of essentials by the traders during the holy Ramzan.
He came up with the warning while talking to newsmen after an emergency meeting of National Consumer Rights Protection Council (NCRPC) at his secretariat office.
The Commerce Minister said persons concerned would be dealt with severely if anyone tried to make instable the market of essential commodities during the holly month Ramzan.
“Import, supply and price of all essential commodities will be monitored so that commodity markets remain stable during the fasting month,” he added.
Tofail Ahmed said the concerned government departments and agencies would exchange views with importers, dealers, retailer and the Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) to protect consumer rights before start of the month.
