Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid told the House that the government would take stern action against authorities of the privately run schools for taking additional money violating the government formulated policy.
“The government would take action against privately run school authorities, if they realise additional admission and monthly fees from students violating the policy,” he said this on Thursday while replying to a question from treasury bench member M Anwarul Azim (Anar).
Regarding the recent question leakage, he told another questioner from treasury bench member M Abdullah that the government would take necessary action after getting the probe report on the question leakage. “Three persons are in jail for alleged involved in the question leakage under two cases in Faridpur,” Nahid said adding that there was no report of allegation of question leakage over the last five years. He said the education ministry formed a high-powered probe committee and the Secondary and Higher Secondary School Education Board, Dhaka formed another committee to investigate the incident.
Replying to another questioner Selim Uddin, the minister said the government took various initiatives to improve the quality of education across the country.
He said the government distributed textbooks free of cost and introduced stipend to discourage students for coming to towns, which helped increase enrolment in rural educational institutions.
