The people of Ulipur Upazila in Kurigram formed a human chain demanding measures to check erosion of the river Teesta and Brahmaputra.
An organisation named Gono Unnayan Committee to save Thetrai, Hokodanga,Daldalia and Ulipur formed the human chain on Saturday evening at 5 pm.
At the end of human chain a rally was brought out.The local elites spoke in the human chain. The speakers demanded to take necessary steps to protect river erosion including ensure of education, sanitation, health care, social and economic development for the people of char areas who deprived of opportunities.
