Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque on Monday said that all initiatives had been taken to bring back top terror Molla Masud from West Bengal (India) where he had been arrested recently.
“The Home Ministry has requested the Foreign Ministry to bring back the most wanted criminal (Masud) home as per law,” said the police boss while talking to the journalists at the Police Headquarters. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police in West Bengal arrested Molla Masud, a most wanted criminal and accused in several cases, from Barrackpore. Although the top terror was arrested from Barrackpore under the North 24 Parganas district on February 8 this year, Interpol from New Delhi confirmed it to the National Central Bureau (NCB) of Police Headquarters in Dhaka on Sunday.
The West Bengal’s CID filed a case against Mollah Masud with Barrackpore Police Station on February 8.
On December 27, 2001, the then BNP-led four-party alliance government announced a list of 23 most wanted criminals, including Mollah Masud, and also declared bounties for information leading to their arrest.
