Steps taken for modernisation of land law: Minister

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said steps have been taken to modernise the land-related law enacted in British period.
“The steps have been taken to speedy up the land services through reforming the existing laws along with making new laws,” he said this on Monday while addressing the inaugural session of the 11th basic land management training course for the newly-appointed assistant commissioners (land) at Land Administration Training Centre here, said an official handout here. Saifuzzaman said the government has taken zero tolerance policy against corruption.
The land ministry is conducting sudden visits along with monitoring the activities of land offices in field level in order to bring down irregularities in the land sector, he added.
Asking the AC land officials to do their jobs with utmost sincerity, the minister said, “The services must be given in transparent way. You (officials) must have accountability while rendering services to the people,” he added.
Secretary of the Land Ministry Md Muksodur Rahman Patwary addressed the programme as special guest with Land Administration Training Centre Director Md Abdul Hye in the chair.
