UNB, Dhaka :
The government has taken ‘administrative actions’ against the officials and employees responsible for the missing of some 600 blank passports from the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, said Foreign
Secretary M Shahidul Haque on Monday.
He said, a probe panel was formed following the incident and the recommendations put forward by the committee have fully been implemented.
Asked about the withdrawal of the Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia following the recommendations, Haque maintained his stance saying “100 percent recommendations have been implemented”.
He, however, said the High Commissioner, AKM Atiqur Rahman, will go on ‘normal retirement’ soon.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, who was there to brief the media on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Malaysia visit, said a new Bangladesh envoy will be sent to Kuala Lumpur soon.
The missing of the passports came in the limelight after the mission’s newly appointed Second Secretary (Political) and custodian of passports Suchona Rani Halder left Malaysia on a 10-day leave on January 5.
