Speakers at a meeting here Saturday urged the business people not to produce and import adulterated and substandard fertilizers for the sake of the country’s agriculture.
It is urgently needed to take careful steps for fertilizer production, import and distribution so that country’s agriculture and farmer community are not affected, they said while speaking at the 21st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Bangladesh Fertilizer Association (BFA) here.
Secretary of agriculture ministry Md Yunusur Rahman, Jatiya Sangsad whip Md Shahiduzzaman Sarker, secretary of industries ministry Md Mosharraf Hossain Buiyan and FBCCI President Kazi Akran Uddin Ahmed, among others, addressed the meeting. BFA President Kamrul Hasan Khan, MP presided over it.
Md Yunusur Rahman said cautious steps must be taken about the use of fertilizer because anything harmful cannot be used for the sake of agriculture and farmers. He stressed the need for proper use of government’s subsidy for the agriculture sector and said subsidy is being given for the benefits of the farmers.
