A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by stepfather in Korail slum in Dhaka’s Mohakhali area on Saturday.
Police detained the stepfather from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) when he took the baby there, said Banani police’s Officer in-charge (OC) Nur-E-Azam Mia, adding that police have primarily suspected that the stepfather raped and killed the child.
The duty doctor declared the baby dead when the accused rushed to DMCH around 10:30am with the child in an unconscious state. Firstly the
stepfather said that the baby had fallen from the stair, said DMCH’s outpost in-charge Bachchu Mia.
However, it was found that there were several injury marks on the girl’s body including her private parts and cheek. So the step father was detained for suspicious behavior, he said.
The victim’s mother said that she married the accused seven months ago. The victim was youngest among three her children. She used to live in a city slum with the girl while her sons live in their grandmother’s house in Habiganj.
Her husband works in a restaurant. But nowadays he was not regular in work. So they quarreled over mantaining family expenses, she added.
She also said that she went her sister’s house after quarrel. And that time her baby was in fine condition.
The mother also alleged that her husband raped and killed her daughter.
