BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul on Tuesday asked the party men to stay in election till last moment and prevent any efforts of vote rigging by the government.
“This election is decisive for the BNP. The countrymen also are passing a very crucial time now. In these circumstances, the leaders and activists should forge concrete wall comprising with the people to prevent vote riggers and compel the government to conduct fair polls,” he said this at a discussion meeting at the Supreme Court Bar Auditorium.
The BNP organised the meeting in observance of the party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s 54th birthday.
Mirza Fakhrul said, the party men should try with their last drop of blood to win the polls.
He accused the Election Commission of acting like a pro-Awami League institution.
He said, the government becomes worry after the BNP taking various efforts centering the polls.
“The government blocked Skype to stop Tarique Rahman to join the party nomination board to interview the aspirants. It is a clear sign
of their nerves ness,” he said. The BNP leader said, the police conducted mass arrest across the country even after the declaration of the election schedule.
He asked the party men to use the people’s vote as a weapon to win the election race.
He expressed hope that there would be hoisting of flag of ‘people’s freedom’ after December 30.
BNP Vice-Chairman Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain presided over the meeting, while Jatiya Oikyafront leader Dr. Jafarullah Chowdhury, BNP Joint-Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Advocate Selina Hossain, Advocate Zainul Abedin and Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokan gave speech.
BNP’s Publicity Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie moderated the programme.
