State mourning observed in memory of fire victims

The one-day state mourning was observed on Monday in memory of the victims of the devastating Chawkbazar fire in the capital on Wednesday that claimed scores of lives.
All government, semi-government, autonomous and private institutions and establishments and Bangladesh missions abroad kept national flag half-mast, said a press release here on Monday.
National flag was kept half-mast at the secretariat as officers and employees wore black badges in memory of the victims.
Besides, government and private offices also observed the state-mourning. On Wednesday night, the devastating fire incident was occurred in the Churihatta area of Chawkbazar in the old part of the capital claiming 67 lives and scores wounded. Nine burn injured are receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH)’s Plastic Surgery and Burn Unit.
