State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell has expressed his embarrassment at the incident of Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hassan Papon’s gambling scandal.
However, terming Papon’s gambling scandal as ‘moral degradation’, he avoided making any comment on the BCB chief.
The state minister on Friday told media, “Gambling is a crime in the country. The government is bringing the casino-involved people under the ambit of law. Therefore, all should be punished.”
Russell said he hasn’t watched Nazmul Hassan Papon’s video yet. Therefore, he was unable to make any comment immediately.
Earlier on Thursday, a video went viral on popular video sharing website YouTube claiming that Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon was gambling in a Singaporean casino.
The video sparked controversy among the cricket fans of the country and criticism on the social media platforms including Facebook.
