On behalf of Chattogram Samity-Dhaka, Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud on Friday accorded honour to five state-award winning distinguished personalities of Chattogram.
Swadhinata Padak winning physician and former Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Vice-Chancellor Prof Kanak Kanti Barua, Ekushey Padak recipient and Dainik Azadi Editor MA Malek and Bangla Academy Literary Award recipients- poet Bimal Guha, poet Asad Mannan and poet, writer and journalist Biswajit Chowdhury were accorded honor at a function at Chattogram Samity Bhaban at Topkhana road in Dhaka.
Paying respect to the eminent personalities, Hasan Mahmud said if noble works of distinguished personalities are honored, all get inspired to do good works, reports BSS.
Terming Chattogram Samity as like as a piece of Chattogram in Dhaka, the minister said this association arranges Mejban every year upholding the culture of Chattogram.
He requested the association to arrange traditional Boli Khela in Dhaka as heritage of Chattogram is a big glory of this district.
Hasan Mahmud along with the distinguished personalities unveiled the cover of a book titled “Abohoman Chattogram: Kabi-Sahityik O Tader Sahityakormo” written by late writer of Chattogram Ahmed Mamtaz.
Chattogram Samity-Dhaka President Joynul Abedin Jamal chaired the programme. Apart from the five eminent personalities, Chattogram Samity-Dhaka General Secretary Mohammad Shahadat Hossain Hiro, Vice-President Engineer Ujjal Mallik and Literary Secretary Engineer Jahid Absar Chowdhury also spoke on the occasion.
