Several hundred people of Bhabadah affected areas in Jashore and Khulna gathered on the office ground of the Deputy Commissioner, Jashore on Monday demanding implementation of Tidal River Management Project (TRM) immediately.
They gathered there to give a memorandum to the prime minister through the deputy commissioner, Jashore. Bhabadah Water Mitigation Movement Committee arranged the programme.
Around one ten lakh people of Abhaynagar, Monirampur, Keshabpur and sadar upazila of Jashore, Dumuria and Phultala of Khulna district and Tala upazia in Satkhira suffer for several months during the rainy season every year as the rivers of the area become silted due to lack of free flow of water.
