Star Sporting Club managed a hard-fought 40-39 point victory over Sunshine Sporting Club in the opening match of the Metropolis First Division Kabaddi League that began at the Kabaddi Stadium here on Tuesday.
In the day’s other match, Swornali Sangsad outplayed Arbachin KC by 72-22 points.
Earlier, Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy inaugurated the six-day league as the chief guest.
Managing Director of Bandar Steels Industries Ltd Abul Kamal Azad was also present as a special guest.
A total of 12 teams, split into two groups, are taking part in the league. Later, two top teams from each of the group will play in the semifinals on Sunday. The final match will also be held on the same day.
