World no. one all-rounder rounder Shakib Al Hasan booked his place in the IPL auctions as a ‘Marquee’ player list with a base price of RS 2 Crore which is the base price for the all 16 elite players in the Marquee Players’ list.
The star all-rounder Shakib was placed alongside the likes of England’s Ben Stokes, Joe Root and India’s Ravichandran Ashwin in the much-awaited IPL Auction that will be held on January 27 and 28 at Bengaluru.
The ace all-rounder Shakib now in prolific form in the ongoing tri-nation series, picking up player-of-match awards in both the games so far. He also achieved his personal landmark of 10,000 runs in all three formats combined when he scored 67 against Sri Lanka of Bangladesh’s second match in the
series.
Earlier, on Saturday, the IPL announced the final auction pool, having trimmed the original 1122 list by half. The auction pool has been split into different sets based on the area of expertise of the player. The auction will begin with the two sets of marquee players going up for bidding, source cricket website.
The players will go under the auction in two sets with Stokes, Mitchell Starc, Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Yuvraj Singh, R Ashwin, Gautam Gambhir, Shikhar Dhawan and Glenn Maxwell in the first set while Shakib, Ajinkya Rahane, Harbhajan Singh, Faf du Plessis, Dwayne Bravo and Kane Williamson will be in the second set.
The auction will begin with marquee players’ list followed by capped players — in the order of batsmen, all-rounders, wicketkeepers, fast bowlers and spinners.
Ashwin has been placed at the top of the list of Marquee players while Shakib is 11th on the list.
Bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman is the second highest place as Bangladeshi players as he is in 56th in the full list which included all 578 players while Bangladeshi southpaw opener Tamim Iqbal is 193rd in the 578-player list.
